Transload Operator, Bulk Division

Position Summary
The Transload Operator is a member of a small, independent team and reports to the Coalhurst Terminal Manager. The primary function of this role is to unload railcars and load trucks in a safe and timely manner within the customer’s facility.  The Transload Operator is accountable for the operation and maintenance of our small transload facility and all equipment involved in the daily operation of the terminal.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         All duties are to be performed in compliance with Tri-line SOP’s and industry regulations

·         Identification and control of hazards & active participation in Tri-line’s safety program

·         Opening and closing rail cars

·         Opening and closing tracks

·         Unload rail cars into silos

·         Load pneumatic trailers from silo storage

·         Operate track mobile to spot railcars

·         Removing Derails

·         Cleaning Switches

·         Weigh in & weigh out tractor-trailers and complete scale tickets in a timely manner

·         Monitor and track cement inventories

·         Receive cement orders from customers and communicate to Calgary dispatch

·         Operate Augers for loading and off-loading rail cars or silos

·         Maintain augers and other “dust collectors”

·         Perform Track inspections

·         Climbing on rail cars when needed and navigating scaffolding with hand rails

·         Operate various yard equipment including but limited to; rail car opener, hydraulic jacks, basic hand tools, hammers, pry bars, snow blower, weed whacker, water pump etc.

·         Heavy lifting up to 75 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs & some repetitive tasks required

Monday to Friday

Plant operates from 6am to 6pm (plant hours may change from summer to winter)
Occasional opportunities will exist for overtime in busy periods or when covering


Position Requirements

·         Experience in a transload or directly related role

·         First Aid certified

·         Track Loader ticket

·         Fall Arrest ticket

·         Lockout-Tagout certified

·         Experienced operating forklifts, zoom boom and scissor lifts

·         Proven ability to communicate effectively and efficiently

·         Problem solve and decision making skills in a fast-paced environment

·         Complete Tri-line specific training
